    Description

Do you want to use your legal skills to make a difference for aquatic wildlife?

WildFish fights to protect wild fish from open-net salmon farming, abstraction and  pollution. Our mission is to restore wild fish populations and ecology in our rivers and  coastal waters. We use evidence and the law to underpin our campaigns.

    The opportunity

We are seeking a qualified lawyer (England and Wales), qualification in Scotland  would be a plus, to join forces with WildFish’s solicitor on major cases and  campaigns. You will be working in fascinating areas of law including water resources,  planning and development, pollution control, freedom of information, and chemical  regulation (including pesticides).

There is never a dull moment in our work. We take judicial review cases in the High  Court as well as representing WildFish at Tribunal hearings, planning and water related inquiries. We conduct legal and policy research and campaign for better  legislation, better implementation and stronger enforcement of existing  environmental law.

The successful candidate will have relevant experience in at least some of these  areas but commitment, curiosity, a willingness to learn and an ability to work to tight  deadlines are vital too. We would especially like to hear from candidates who have a  scientific or research background and a solid understanding of UK aquatic ecology.

    The Practical Stuff

This is a full-time position with plenty of flexibility built in. We’re remotely based, with a co-working space in Salisbury, and we will expect you to join us there about once  every two weeks. You will also need to attend external meetings, formal proceedings,  and conferences when they come up. Your will receive pension contributions and 25 days leave.

We Celebrate You – Whoever You Are

Diverse perspectives make our conservation work stronger and more effective. We  welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly those from  underrepresented communities in the conservation sector. We are committed to  creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

Ready to dive in and make waves for wildlife conservation? We are eager to meet  you.
